IFI44L gene methylation detection assay was achieved sensitivity and specificity exceeding 90% in the diagnosis of lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients. 1126 peripheral blood samples were from patients with lupus erythematosus and with other rheumatic diseases (non-lupus erythematosus). The result showed that the sensitivity, specificity, and consistency of IFI44L methylation detection compared to the 2012 SLICC standard were 90.53%, 92.52%, and 91.47%, respectively. Compared with the commonly used lupus detection markers on the market (ANA \ Sm \ dsDNA antibodies), it has significant advantages in sensitivity and specificity.

The assay of IFI44L methylation for SLE diagnostic, has shown the potential equally effective as SLICC. It was be expected as the potential precise marker for SLE diagnostic.
